No need to scrub, just put the oven rack in a bag and it will be as good as new.

That trick actually works—but only if you do it the right way. It’s a simple soak method that loosens grease so you don’t have to scrub hard.

🧼 The “Bag Method” for Cleaning Oven Racks

🧺 What You Need

  • Large garbage bag (heavy-duty)
  • Dishwashing detergent or laundry detergent
  • Optional: a dishwasher tablet
  • Warm water

✅ Step-by-Step

1. 🛍️ Place Racks in the Bag

  • Put your oven racks inside a strong garbage bag
  • Do this in a bathtub, balcony, or outdoor area (just in case)

2. 💧 Add Cleaning Solution

  • Pour in:
    • ½–1 cup detergent
    • Enough warm water to cover the racks

👉 Optional: drop in a dishwasher tablet for extra grease-cutting power

3. 🔒 Seal and Soak

  • Tie the bag tightly
  • Leave it for 8–12 hours (overnight is best)

4. 🚿 Rinse Off

  • Open the bag carefully
  • Rinse racks with water

👉 Most grime will slide right off with little to no scrubbing

⚠️ Important Tips (Most People Miss These)

❌ Don’t use very hot water

Can weaken or melt the bag

❌ Don’t drag racks out roughly

They can tear the bag and spill dirty water

❌ Avoid harsh chemicals in enclosed bags

(Like ammonia + no ventilation) → can be dangerous

💡 Alternative (No Bag Needed)

  • Soak racks in a bathtub with:
    • Warm water + dish soap
    • Leave overnight
    • Rinse in the morning

👍 Why This Works

  • Long soaking breaks down baked-on grease
  • Detergent lifts residue without heavy scrubbing

✨ Result

  • Cleaner racks
  • Less effort
  • No aggressive scrubbing
