Posted on March 14, 2026 by Admin

A simple home remedy often used to help loosen mucus in the throat and lungs uses just two ingredients: honey and lemon. While it doesn’t cure illness, it can soothe irritation and help clear mucus during colds or respiratory infections like Common Cold or Bronchitis. 🍯🍋

2-Ingredient Honey & Lemon Drink

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • Juice of ½ fresh lemon
  • 1 cup warm water

How to Prepare

  1. Warm a cup of water (not boiling).
  2. Add the lemon juice.
  3. Stir in honey until dissolved.
  4. Drink slowly while it’s warm.

Why It May Help

Honey

  • Naturally soothing for the throat
  • Has mild antibacterial properties
  • Can reduce coughing

Lemon

  • Rich in vitamin C
  • Helps thin mucus and support the immune system

How Often to Drink

  • 1–2 times per day, especially in the morning or before bed.

⚠️ Important notes

  • This remedy helps relieve symptoms but does not treat serious lung diseases like Pneumonia or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
  • Do not give honey to infants under 1 year old.
  • If cough or mucus lasts more than 2–3 weeks, consult a doctor.

💡 Extra tip:
Drinking warm fluids, steam inhalation, and staying hydrated can also help thin mucus and make it easier to clear.
