Texas Turtle Sheet Cake

Posted on March 16, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a delicious recipe for a Texas Turtle Sheet Cake—a rich, fudgy chocolate cake topped with caramel, pecans, and chocolate drizzle. Perfect for gatherings or an indulgent treat. 🍫🐢

Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

For the Topping

  • 1 cup Caramel Sauce
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream (for chocolate drizzle)

Instructions

1. Make the Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

2. Add the Topping

  1. Warm the caramel sauce slightly and pour over the warm cake.
  2. Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly.
  3. Melt the chocolate chips with heavy cream to make a drizzle, then pour over the cake.

3. Serve

  • Let the cake cool slightly before slicing.
  • Enjoy with a glass of milk or coffee for the ultimate indulgence! 🥛☕

💡 Tip: For extra gooeyness, drizzle extra caramel just before serving.
